2010 HOST FAMILY PROGRAM

Dear Baseball Fans!

SLO Baseball Alliance Inc and Blues Baseball are currently gearing up for another action packed baseball season. We have so many new and exciting things to unveil, that we can’t wait for the season to get going. We will be sporting a new look, we have added new staff members and fun promotions, and we have committed to making this the best season ever. We are very proud to announce that we have an official host family coordinator, Lisa Morris. Our goal is to be more organized in our host family efforts and Lisa has volunteered to make this happen. Since she was already helping behind the scenes, we thought a title was in store. So thanks in advance Lisa.

We are currently renewing and searching for new Host Families. As you know, our players travel from all over the United States to spend a summer here in San Luis Obispo. They are students from some of the finest schools in the country who have been recommended by a coach or major league scout because of their potential to succeed as a professional baseball player as well as becoming better human beings. The SLO Blues are nationally recognized for the excellence of our coaching staff and the high caliber of baseball that we play. Last season we finished 40-12, ranked #11 nationally, and this couldn’t have happened without YOU! For this reason, we are able to attract some of the best up and coming college baseball players in the nation with the goal of providing a winning team for the communities of San Luis Obispo County.

A vital part of a successful season is to have host families provide housing for the players, giving them support and a family atmosphere for the summer. We work extremely hard, and take pride in providing our players with a safe, comfortable family environment. These young men will have a positive influence in our community and in your home. Many past Host Families have developed friendships with the players they have welcomed into their homes and have enjoyed watching their player progress in their careers and onto professional baseball. This is a great opportunity to receive one-on-one mentoring for your young ball player.

In addition to the rewards of forming a life-long relationship with your player, the SLO Blues would like to thank you with a very special Host Family Appreciation Package especially for our supporters of this program. The Package includes:

  • Season Tickets for the Whole Family!
  • GAME DAY Meal Vouchers and other hospitality events.
  • A Blues tee shirt and cap or sweatshirt for the Whole Family!
  • Special Family and Player Barbecues throughout summer !
  • Host Family Appreciation Night at the Stadium!
  • $200 player fee that will be given to you before player arrives

As a Host Family, here is what we ask of you:

  • Welcome player into your home.
  • Provide a player with their own room for the season.
  • Provide access to refrigerator.
  • Provide access to a washer and dryer if possible.
  • Provide a safe and comfortable environment.
  • Cheer for him at the games whenever possible.

You can expect your player to be a conscientious young man who will be a positive role model in your home and the community. He is expected to follow the rules in your house, contribute to your family’s routines, and share his gratitude for you generosity. You will also have the support of the Blues in any hosting matters.

If you are ready to be a host family or would like to learn more about becoming a host family for the 2010 season and being  part of our “SLO Blues Summer Fun Gang”, please contact Lisa Morris, our Host Family Coordinator, at (805) 674-0541 or lmorris@bluesbaseball.com. We appreciate a prompt response, as the season is approaching fast.

SLO Blues Baseball could not exist without the support and assistance of the community - especially the generous families and individuals who have opened their homes and hearts to these young players.
We’re looking forward to hearing from you and keeping the memories alive!

Sincerely,
The SLO Blues Family!
