The SLO Blues (14-5, 11-5 CCL) took the first game of a double header against the Glendale Angelenos (12-8, 4-8 CCL) on Sunday afternoon for a crowd of 617 fans in attendance.
Winning pitcher Travis Huber (2-0) pitched 5 1/3 shutout innings, striking out five and allowing only three hits. Vince Wheeland (1) pitched 1 2/3 innings of relief, keeping the Angelenos scoreless and earning a save.
Max Homick and Adam Frazier scored the two runs for the Blues, with RBI's by Thomas Bernal and Alex Detz. After Homick hit a double up the middle in the fifth inning, Bernal hit a shot to right center to drive in a run. Then in the sixth inning, Frazier led off with a single through the right side, followed with a bunt by Tanner Witt and a single to left field by Detz which allowed Frazier to score.
The Blues start their second game of the double header at 4:35pm.
