The Blues (20-6, 13-6 CCL) completed their sweep over the Menlo Park Legends (15-10) on Sunday afternoon, winning 6-4.
The Legends scored one in the top of the first, but the Blues came back to take the lead in the bottom of the first with a 2 RBI single by C Jo Jo Sharrar, bringing in CF Brandon Wood and 2B Alex Detz. In the bottom of the 4th, after Adam Frazier singled through the right side and stole to advance to third, Detz singled to drive in a third run for the Blues. Then in the bottom of the 5th, Jake Jelmini hit an RBI single after back to back walks for Sharrar and RF Max Homick. The Legends scored one more in the top of the 7th, but the Blues continued to extend their lead in the bottom of the 7th. While pinch running for 3B Austin Flores, Tanner Witt was advanced to third on a hit by Jelmini and a fielder's choice, and then he stole home while LF Brannon Champagne stole second. Champagne then scored on a single by Frazier.
Detz and Sharrar both went 2-3 for the game with two singles, a walk, and a hit by pitch. Frazier went 2-4 with two singles, an RBI, and a run scored.
RHP Harmon Sidhu (3-0) picked up the win for the Blues by pitching two shutout innings. RHP Kyle Martin got his second save of the season, allowing only one hit in one inning. Overall, the pitching staffed combined for a total of 8 strikeouts.
The Blues have a double header on Tuesday, 7/5, against the Glendale Angelenos. The gates open at 2pm, and the games start at 3pm and 6pm. The charity partner of the game will be the SLO County YMCA.
