The San Luis Obispo Blues (20-7, 13-7) lost the first game of Monday's double header against the visiting Glendale Angelenos (15-12, 7-12), 5-13.
Playing as the away team, the Blues fought back from being down three runs after the first inning but Angelenos third baseman Sako Chapjian's grand slam in the fifth capped off an eight run inning and put the game out of reach for the Blues.
Offensively the Blues were led by designated hitter Alex Detz and third baseman Dylan Gavin. Detz' double in the third inning was the Blues only extra base hit of the game while Gavin's first-inning single drove in the Blues first run. Other offensive highlights include second baseman Adam Frazier's fourth inning sacrifice fly, scoring shortstop Chad Christensen. Christensen along with Detz, left fielder Sal Belfonte, center fielder Brannon Champagne, and catcher Thomas Bernal were each 1-3 with a run scored.
The Blues cap off their double header against the Angelenos tonight at 6:15 PM at San Luis Obispo's Sinsheimer Stadium.
