SLO BLUES 13 v. San Francisco Seals
The Blues (22-8) came back in their second game of the Rawlings California Cup on Friday evening to defeat the San Francisco Seals with a score of 13-1.
C Jo Jo Sharrar led the Blues offensively with two singles, a double, and a total of 3 runs scored and 3 RBI's. 1B Zac Elgie went 2-5 with single in the 1st inning and a triple in the 3rd.2B Austin Flores hit a triple in the 5th inning, and SS Tanner Witt went 2-3 with two singles and two walks. CF Brannon Champagne and LF Sal Belfonte each stole their 13th base of the season, and Witt stole his tenth base, giving him a perfect 10-10 record for stolen bases this summer.
Winning pitcher Dylan Mendoza (1-0) pitched the first five innings, striking out seven. LHP Joshua Dexheimer pitched two innings of relief, striking out five batters, and RHP Michael Holback pitched the final two innings, striking out two. Combined, the pitching staff only allowed five hits and one run.
In Friday afternoon's game between the OC Pioneers and the Menlo Park Legends, the Legends beat the Pioneers 16-4. The Legends scored their 16 runs on 21 hits and 3 errors.
The Rawlings California Cup continues tomorrow with the Legends vs the Seals at 2pm and the Blues vs the Pioneers at 6pm. The gates will open at 1pm. Foul balls in the second game will be courtesy of Pacific Eye.
