
SLO BLUES 10 @ Conejo Oaks 1

After losing the continuation of Friday night's postponed game (darkness) 7-8 in ten innings, the San Luis Obispo Blues (25-11, 16-10) rode their eight run seventh inning to a 10-1 win over the Conejo Oaks (20-16, 14-15) at Sparky Anderson Field. The Blues sent thirteen batters to the plate in the seventh, collecting four hits, four walks, and having ten total players reach base.
The Blues seventh-inning run explosion helped give starting pitcher Tom Barry (5-2) his fifth win of the season. Barry pitched seven effective innings, allowing only one run and five hits while striking out six Oaks batters. Reliever Paul Twining (0-0) came in in the bottom of the eight inning and helped preserve the Blues' nine run lead by throwing two hitless innings and collecting two strikeouts.
The Blues offense had an exceptional afternoon with three players having mulithit days and seven different batters collecting RBI's. First baseman Dylan Gavin got the Blues started in the top of the sixth with his second home run of the season giving the Blues a 2-1 lead. In total Gavin finished the day 1-3 with two RBI's, two runs scored, and was hit by a pitch. Also having notable batting lines were leadoff man Adam Frazier, designated hitter Alex Detz, and shortstop Tanner Witt. Frazier reached base four times on two hits and two walks, scored two runs, and also batted two runs in. Witt and Detz each collected two hits, scored once, stole a base, and combined for three RBI's.
The Blues continue their road trip Monday by taking on the Urban Academy Barons at Major League Baseball's Urban Academy in Compton, CA. First pitch is scheduled for 5:30 PM.
