
SLO BLUES 3 v. OC Pioneers 1

The SLO Blues (29-11, 20-10 CCL) defeated the OC Pioneers (16-12, 15-11 CCL ) 3-1 on Friday night in front of a crowd of 616 fans. Winning pitcher Paul Twining finished the game on four perfect innings of relief.
Starting pitcher Carlos Rodriguez pitched the first five innings, striking out six and allowing one run. Twining entered the game in the top of the 6th and went 12 up 12 down to shut out the Pioneers for the rest of the game. He threw three strikeouts and pitched only strikes for the entire 8th inning.
The Blues came back from a 0-1 deficit in the bottom of the 1st to tie the score 1-1 when 2B Alex Detz hit an RBI ground out, scoring LF Brannon Champagne. The score remained tied until the bottom of the 6th, when the Blues pulled ahead. RF Max Homick led off the inning with a walk. CF Brandon Wood singled to center, advancing to second on the throw and sending Homick to third. 3B Austin Flores hit an RBI single to shortstop, beating the throw on the play. Wood then scored on a wild pitch to make the final score 3-1.
The Blues play again tomorrow night against Team Vegas at Centennial High School in Las Vegas. The game starts at 7pm.
