SLO BLUES 4 @ Team Vegas 5
July 23, 2011, Basic High School, Las Vegas, NV
The San Luis Obispo Blues (29-12, 20-11) ended their six game winning streak Saturday night, losing to Team Vegas (14-11, 14-11) 4-5 at Las Vegas' Basic High School. Playing in a steady 20-25 MPH wind, the Blues found it difficult to get runners across the plate and stranded ten base runners.
Although Team Vegas scored five runs, only one of which was earned, the Blues pitching staff had solid outings from by starting pitcher Tom Barry and reliever Nick Grim. Each pitched four innings, Barry allowing only one walk and one earned run and Grim striking out six batters while allowing only one hit.
First baseman Zac Elgie put forth the line of the day for the Blues offense, going 3-4 with a double, three RBI's, and a stolen base. Elgie leads the Blues in hits, RBI's, total bases, and slugging percentage. Second baseman Adam Frazier continues to set the table atop the Blues lineup, walking three times from the leadoff spot. Third baseman Dylan Gavin and designated hitter Alex Detz also contributed. Gavin scored twice and singled while Detz doubled in the first inning and scored once.
The Blues look to tie up their series with Team Vegas Sunday night at Basic High School. First pitch is scheduled for 7 PM.
