
SLO BLUES 7 v. SLO Rattlers 9

The San Luis Obispo Blues (33-14) fell to their crosstown rival San Luis Obispo Rattlers (22-19-2) 7-9 in a wild contest Friday night at Sinsheimer Stadium. It was a dominant night for offense as the teams combined for 23 hits, 25 runners left on base, and nine errors. Rattlers second baseman Zack Pecyna was tonight's MVP as he reached base five times on four hits with a double and three base hits on his way to collecting two RBI's, two runs scored, and his 22nd stolen base of the season.
Rattlers Starting pitcher David Murillo (4-2) earned his fourth with of the summer after throwing 7.2 innings of four-run ball in which he struck out four and allowed only one walk. Blues starting pitcher Lars Ligouri (1-1) also had a strong outing, allowing only one earned run while striking out four over five innings. Right hander Kirk Fridrich (1-1) came in with two outs in the ninth for reliever Dylan Prokop (2-0) and got his first save of the season by striking out pinch hitter Alex Detz on three pitches.
Rattlers leadoff man Jordan Goldsmith also helped even up the Rattlers season record against the Blues by contributing on both sides of the ball. Besides adding two hits, a run scored, and his team-leading 35th stolen base, Goldsmith also amazed defensively on a spectacular diving catch in shallow left-center field. Other batters of note from the game were Blues outfielders Sal Belfonte and Brannon Champagne. The Missouri duo combined for five hits, two runs scored, and one RBI with Belfonte hitting his first home run of the season to left field to lead of the bottom of the fifth.
The two teams face off once again Saturday night at 6 PM at San Luis Obispo's Sinsheimer Stadium with the season series tied at one game apiece. There will be a Fireworks Show following the game.
