The San Luis Obispo Blues (7-1 overall, 4-1 CCL) took down the Conejo Oaks (6-2, 2-2) with a final score of 8-3. The Blues scored half of their eight runs on home runs by Chad Christensen and Thomas Bernal.
The Blues gained the lead in the fifth inning with a solo home run by Christensen, his first home run of the season. Two more runs came in in the sixth with RBI's by Tanner Witt and Bernal. A big inning for the Blues was the seventh; after the first two batter got out, the next six batters got on base. Brannon Champagne and Sal Belfonte started it off with back to back walks, followed by Wade Hinkle who was hit by a pitch. Zac Elgie singled to left, bringing in two more runs, and Bernal finished off the inning with a home run down the left field line. This totaled 7 runs in 2 innings, all coming with 2 outs.
Winning pitcher for the Blues was Tom Barry (2-0), with 6 strikeouts and allowing only two runs in seven innings. Hunt picked up his first loss for the Oaks after pitching five innings.
The Blues play the the Orange City Pioneers Thursday at 7pm at Hart Park in Orange City.
