The Blues (11-5, 8-5 CCL) fell to Team Vegas (8-8, 8-8 CCL) on Thursday night, 4-1. Team Vegas scored two runs in the first inning, and never trailed in the game.
Starting pitcher Josh Frye (1-2) suffered the defeat despite pitching 6 innings, striking out 6, and only allowing 3 earned runs. Nick Grim pitched three innings of scoreless relief, striking out 5 Vegas batters. He struck out the last three Vegas batters in the top of the ninth inning.
Brannon Champagne was the offensive player of the game. He went 1 for 1, with a single, a run scored, 3 walks, and a stolen base. He scored after a walk and two wild pitches in the bottom of the 5th inning for the lone run of the ball game for the Blues.
The Blues look to even the series against Team Vegas Friday night at Sinsheimer Stadium. First pitch will be at 6:00pm, and gates will open at 5:00pm.
