San Luis Obispo, Ca. - Even with the Blues collecting seven hits and the staff striking out 13, it wasn't enough to top the Foresters in their first matchup of the season.
Texas A&M right-handed pitcher Cooper Fulbright was tagged with the loss. In his first start and first appearance at Sinsheimer, the Aggie went three innings, giving up two runs on one hit, walking three and striking out three.
Only four Blues were able to collect hits. Kutter-Gage Webb and Mason Ashlock both collected one hit. CJ Moran collected two hits in four at-bats. Diego Murillo was a star for the Blues, going 3-4 with one RBI and one double.
The first two innings saw a scoreless game, with the only hit coming off the bat of Moran. The Foresters went on a run the next two innings, scoring four runs on four hits. The Blues weren't able to respond, with the closest the game got being 4-2 in the fourth.
The next game will be a two-game series against the Alameda Merchants at Sinsheimer Baseball Stadium in San Luis Obispo, California, on Tuesday and Wednesday. First pitch will be at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday and 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Blues go on the road next week on Thursday to face the Foresters in the second game of their five scheduled matchups this season.
