The Saints Even the Series Against the Blues as the Saints take Game Two, 7-3
The Blues offense wasn’t able to capitalize leaving ten runners stranded en route to their third home loss of the season.

San Luis Obispo, Calif. - The Blues offense was hot as ever on the night collecting ten hits, four of them being for extra bases, but only three made it all the way home.
The Blues offense had eight players collect hits with Diego Murillo going 2-4 with two doubles and 3 RBIs scoring all the runs for the Blues. Even with all the hits, the Blues weren't able to get things done with players on the base paths.
Spencer Gallimore was tagged with the loss after pitching 4.1 innings, giving up four runs on nine hits, walking one, and striking out four. The Blues staff struck out six on the night and gave up seven runs on 15 hits. Only one Saint drew a walk.
The Blues look to take the series against the Saints on Sunday with a 2:00 p.m. first pitch.
Play-by-play
1 | Spencer Gallimore was the starter for the Blues, he went three-up three-down through the Saints lineup. Brayden Flores led off flying out to center. Jacob Freer and Zach Leite were the next two Saints to the plate, both striking out swinging. Joe O'Regan was the starter for the Saints. The Blues were able to score one run in the bottom of the frame collecting three hits. Cesar Chavez led off with a single into center. Miles Mador followed with a single down the right field line. Brendan Comerford and Mason Ashlock struck out in their appearances. Diego Murillo drove in a run with a double into center to score Chavez and advance Mador to third. Kosei Suzuki ended the inning flying out to right.
2 | The Saints scored two runs in the second. Gallimore stayed on the bump for the Blues and faced Canon King at lead off. King collected the Saints first hit of the day with a single to center. Owen Mangini was able to drive in King and himself, hitting a home run out to left. Sean Asperger was the next Saint to the plate drawing a walk and stealing a base. Evan Reiter flew out to Suzuki and right who was able to hose Asperger trying to tag up and get to third. With the last out of the inning the game flipped into the hands of O'Regan. O'Regan faced Sean Rivas to lead off and he struck out. Dom Najar was the next Blue to the plate hitting a double to the center field wall. Brady Alves struck out in his appearance. Chavez reached on an error by the third baseman that was also able to advance Najar. Mador flew out to right to end the inning before any damage was done.
3 | Gallimore stayed in the game for the Blues. Nik Nashiwa was the lead off batter and he grounded out to Murillo at short. Flores hit a single to right to get on first but was picked off shortly after for the second out. Freer ended the inning flying out to right. O'Regan also stayed in for the Saints in the third. Comerford was the first batter he faced. Comerford flew out to center for the first out. Ashlock hit a liner out to left that one hopped the wall for a ground rule double. Murillo struck out and Suzuki flew out to center to end the inning.
4 | Gallimore came in for his fourth inning of work. Leite was the first batter he faced and he grounded out towards first and Rivas flipped over to Gallimore standing on first. King hit a single into shallow center right field. Nagini flew out to center. Asperger hit a single that was almost caught by Suzuki in right. Reiter ended the inning flying out to right. O'Regan allowed one hit in the fourth and no runs. Rivas was the lead off batter and he hit a single up the middle. Najar reached on a fielder's choice to get Rivas on second. Najar stole second in Alves's at bat and Alves flew out to left. Chavez reached on a walk but was the last out of the inning with Mador hitting one to the third baseman who tossed it over to second for the force out.
5 | The fifth saw Gallimore's last inning of work. Reiter was the first batter he faced with a single to right. Nashiwa was the next batter also hitting a single but up the middle. Flores loaded the bases with a soft single to right. Freer struck out for the first out. Leite drove in two runs with a single to left to make the score 4-1. King ended the inning popping up to Murillo at short who was able to throw down to first to get Leite who wandered too far off the bag. Comerford led off with a single and was followed by Ashlock popping up to first. Murillo flew out to center and Suzuki drew a walk. Rivas struck out to end the inning.
6 | Cooper struck out the first two batters he faced in the sixth, Nagini and Asperger. Nguyen finished the inning for the Saints with a line out to short. It was a 1-2-3 inning for the Saints in the bottom of the sixth as well. Najar flew out to center, Alves struck out, and Chavez flew out to right.
7 | Charlie Feris entered the game in relief in the seventh. Reiter was the lead off batter, he hit a single right back to Feris that bounced off his back heel and back to Comerford for Reiter to reach first. Nashiwa hit a single up the middle to reach. Flores hit a single down the left field line that drove in Reiter. Freer hit an RBI single to right, scoring Nashiwa and making it 6-1. Leite grounded into a double play but was able to score Flores from third. King grounded out to second to end the inning. The bottom of the seventh saw two runs cross the plate for the Blues. Mador led off striking out. Comerford drew a walk and Ashlock singled. Murillo hit a bases clearing double for his second extra base hit of the night. This caused a call to the pen for the Saints with them going to righty Hudson Carvalho. Carvalho put the next two batters away with Suzuki popping up to second and Rivas grounded out to third.
8 | Zach Savino entered the game in the eighth. Mangini was the first batter he faced and he broke his bat popping up to short. Asperger flew out to center and Nguyen grounded out to first. Carvalho came back in for the Saints in the bottom of the frame. Najar was the first batter faced and he grounded out to short. Alves collected his first hit of the day with a single down the left field line but was gunned down trying to reach second. Chavez ended the inning grounding out to Carvalho who tossed it back to first.
9 | Savino stayed in to close the game for the Blues. Reiter flew out to center for the first out. Nashiwa popped up to first. Flores hit a single to center to reach for the fourth time on the night. Freer reached on a fielder's choice but was picked off for the third out. It was a 1-2-3 bottom of the frame to end the game for the Blues. Mador struck out, Comerford flew out to center, and Ashlock grounded out to short to end the game.
