SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. - Brendan Comerford and Dom Najar came up big for the Blues on the night, with Comerford hitting a three-RBI double to clear the bases in the third.
Najar went 3-for-4 at the plate, scoring once, driving in one run and walking once. Najar drove in the Blues' first run in the third, scoring Miles Mador with a single. Najar also led off the ninth with a single to get things going for the Blues.
Matthew Bettencourt was tagged with the loss on the night after tossing 2.0 innings, giving up three runs on one hit, walking one and striking out two. Bettencourt entered in the fifth inning, and the three-run home run he allowed was enough to push the Foresters to victory.
Charlie Feris entered in relief for the Blues and was a bright spot in the pitching rotation. Feris pitched his best game of the summer, going 3.0 scoreless innings, giving up just one hit, walking none and striking out four. Feris kept the game together for the Blues in the last three innings, but their runners couldn't find their way home.
The Blues stranded eight runners on the base paths, leaving the bases loaded in two innings. Errors also didn't help the Blues, with the defense committing three of them. Three runs on the night were unearned and not the fault of the Blues' pitching staff.
The Blues hit the road this week, heading north to face the Alameda Merchants, Walnut Creek Crawdads and Menlo Park Legends. The Blues return closer to home Saturday and Sunday as they face Santa Barbara again in their final two matchups of the season at Eddie Mathews Field. The Blues face the Merchants on Wednesday at 1 p.m. at the College of Alameda in Alameda, California.
